2008 was a very busy year for the
B&B and the Lighthouse, with a record number of guests for the B&B
and almost continuous letting for the Lighthouse in its first year. Weve
hosted some interesting groups and events, with musicians, artists, cyclists,
walkers, reunions and celebrations of varying kinds and even honeymooners.
Following my appearance in Go Slow England there have been bookings
at the B&B from several very talented musicians and lovers of life in
the slow lane with whom Ive shared some special times and made some
good friends of like mind. However, fluctuating patterns and levels of domestic
help (very necessary when we now wash, dry and iron 14 peoples bedding
at the Lighthouse!) have led to my getting very tired. As for so many people,
there is sometimes a conflict between earning a sufficient living within the
constraints of modern legislation, and developing my own creative path in
life, for which I need more support. I decided to have a quieter time in late
autumn, and, following the devastating shock of a sudden family bereavement,
extended this period until February. It has been a time for simply being with
the darkness, before new light and growth can carry us forward again. There
is much to do and plan for the farm, and so we have decided to develop the
farm website in its own right, and to keep these pages for the B&B as
simple as possible. I also move my own creative awareness more into the Lighthouse,
which will broadcast beams of light through its own website.
